Health Benefits Program

Free Flu Shot Pharmacy Program
2008-09 Flu Season

COVA Care and COVA HDHP plan members and covered dependents may once again receive free flu shots at participating pharmacies during this year’s flu season.  Follow these easy steps:

The program includes a number of chain and independent participating retail pharmacies throughout Virginia. There may be changes from last year, so be sure to check the link to your plan below for a list of local pharmacies, a Q&A on the program, and a flyer.

Important: Before getting a flu shot, contact your local Virginia pharmacy to be sure that it administers flu shots and participates in your plan’s free flu shot program. If it does, verify when the shots will be available.

There are two other ways to get flu shots at no cost:

• All COVA Care, COVA HDHP and Kaiser Permanente HMO plan members, including covered dependents, may receive free flu shots in doctor's offices under the wellness benefit. Kaiser plan members also have access to free flu shots at participating medical centers.

• State agencies may be making arrangements with local pharmacies to bring free flu shots onsite. Check with your agency location for local plans and schedules.
