The Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) Learning System may be used for professional development or for qualifying candidates, as a preparation tool, for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification examinations. The SHRM Learning System has been designed around the six functional areas defined by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) as:
Individuals should meet the qualifications specified by the HRCI if registering for the exam and must register through HRCI. Exams are conducted via computer at specified locations throughout the state. HRCI does have registration deadlines for the exam, one of which is a late penalty final deadline. Be sure to check the HRCI website for those deadlines.
Workers’ Compensation Services (on behalf of DHRM) will be offering this 10-week course each fall (based on interest) to help prepare local, state and federal, non-profit human resource professionals for the PHR and SPHR exams. Participants may purchase the kit through WCS at a substantially reduced rate. Learning kits include a set of workbooks, a disk for the PC based pre/post and mastery tests, and access to various SHRM presentations/aids.
IMPORTANT: In order to accommodate those individuals who would like to take this course but cannot travel to Richmond, the course will simultaneously be broadcast live statewide through an interactive webinar using Live Meeting.
WCS will place an order for the SHRM Learning System Kits on August 31st for those participants who have paid for them. Materials will be available on the first day of class. The kits will be mailed directly to those persons who order them, but choose to self-study or attend via the Live Meeting webinar.
